The department of Economics was started in the academic year 1972 with the old PUC pattern in the year 1972 degree course were initiated. It was elevated to a Post Graduates Degree in the (M.A. – Business Economics) same year onwards. It is stated with motive of providing quality education to the student of Chennai especially this surrounding back lock area. Economic is considered as ever green subject due to its high utility and huge demand in the job markets. Economics is a very important discipline both for career as well as job oriented point of view.
