The Red Cross is an international organisation meant for humanitarian services. It is a non-religious, non-political and a non-sectarian international body.YRC is a part of the Indian Red Cross Society; it was inaugurated in August, 2003 with well defined objectives such as Protection of Health and Life, Service to the sick and the suffering by organizing, Various health camps such as Eye Camps, Vaccination Camps, health awareness and AIDS Eradication Programmes

Our college secretary Dr.Harish.l.Metha is the Chairman of Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu Branch. Our college YRC programme officer Mr.M.D.Palanivel. Students represent a substantial part of the membership of Red Cross for its humanitarian commitment. Young volunteers can make a significant contribution to meeting the needs of the most vulnerable people within their local communities through Red Cross youth programme. This has been designed to involve young people as much as possible in the movement and its activities not only as workers and also as beneficiaries, but as partners in management.

  • Organized special programme for seven days at Alathur village with 250 volunteers,2011
  • Attended three days zonal level orientation training programme at IRCS, Egmore,2012
  • Organised Geneva Convention day in our college,2012
  • Participated in Human Chain for International Day against Drug Abuse and illcit trafficking with 150 volunteers from our college.
  • Organized VIGEYE for anti –corruption programme on 12.07.2013
  • Organized various programmes like medical camp,adoption of village , blood donation camp
  • Orgnaised ‘ Free Dental Screening Camp’ at Sathyabama University ,Chennai on 05 & 06 August 2013.
  • Organized Blood Donation Camp with the help of Indian Red Cross Society on 17-10-2013 with 200 volunteers.
  • Cancer institute organsied an Awareness Programme about Cancer ,Chennai on 20-08-2013
  • Organized free Eye Camp and Eye Donation.
  • Hundreds of saplings were planted around the campus in the name of “ Go Green”.
  • Human chain was conducted for Pallikaranal Marsh
  • Rally was conducted for voting rights.
  • SKIN CARE CAMP was conducted by YRC volunteers on 28-01-2014
  • Participated “ Swatchh Bharath Abhiyan” with 1 YRC volunteers on 07-04-2015
  • On 12-8-2015,15 YRC volunteers have taken part in Blood Donation camp at Red Cross premises
  • Conducted orientation programme with our chief guest Shri.Dr.Sathiyanarayanan, Shri.Dr.Balaji, Shri.Dr.Paramanandan [Yoga masters] 100 YRC volunteers
  • Inaugurated Blood Donation Camp by Mr.T.S.Krishna Rao,Manager,Indian Bank,Chennai on 25-02-2016
  • Conducted First Aid Training programme in our college on 09-03-2016
  • Conducted Disaster Management Training programme with our college secretary Shri.Dr.Harish L.Metha ,Chairman,Indian Red Cross, Egmore.
  • Participated in Yoga Day celebration at Indian Red Cross Society ,Egmore on 27-06-2016
  • Organized campus cleaning programme “ Swatchh Bharath Abhiyan” with 50 volunteers on 02-08-216

  • Participated in Blood Donation Camp at VHS Hospital,Adyar with 15 volunteers
  • Two volunteers donated blood to Cancer Hospital, Chennai on 19-09-2016
